Cecilia Nordenstam was born in Stockholm, Sweden. Cecilia got into poker as a dealer for Casino Cosmopol, which owns four casinos in four different Swedish cities: Gothenburg, Malmö, Sundsvall and Stockholm. Before this time, Cecilia Nordenstam graduated from a Swedish college. She played poker during her time as a dealer, but these were small money games. Eventually, Cecilia met Alexander Stevic, who got her into higher stakes poker games.

Currently, Cecilia Nordenstam lives in Gothenburg, Sweden with her boyfriend. Both Nordenstam and Stevic are part of a team of Swedish professional poker players which also includes Ken Lenaard and Martin de Knijff. Martin de Knijff is the organizer of the team, and the group is named for him.
Martin de Knijff has won over $3 million in career poker winnings and has placed in the money at the WSOP three times, including a second place finish in a 2004 no limit holdem event and a 13th place finish in the 2002 World Series of Poker Main Event. De Knijff is notable enough to have written an article for CardPlayer magazine, one which challenged the notion of anonymous tournament backers.
Being a part of this Swedish poker team no doubt aided in Cecilia Nordenstam's quick rise to poker world prominence. Cecilia Nordenstam was a major player at the 2005 Five-Star World Poker Classic held every year at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. This is where Cecilia placed in three events of the four different events in which she entered: 34th, 13th and 5th. The fifth place finish was at the 2nd event, while the thirteenth place finish was at the 5th event. These wins propelled Cecilia Nordenstam into the realm of the known poker hotties, and she has been a most-search poker girl in Europe and the United States ever since.
Cecilia Nordenstam has won over $47,000 in World Poker Tour poker tournaments since 2005, though she plays competitively more often on the European Poker Tour. In fact, Cecilia seems to enjoy the 5-Star Bellagio event more than any other in America, because she seems to enter few U.S. poker events. She did win 15th place to Las Vegas Five Diamond World Poker Classic, taking home $15,000. In the 2006 Bellagio Five-Star event, Ms. Nordenstam finished 24th.
