Chantel McNulty PokerHailing from Texas, Chantel McNulty is a poker hottie who seems to generate a lot of discussion and controversy. She’s finished in the money four times at major tournaments, and her career earnings are estimated to be $28,864 (not including cash games).

Learning the Game

Born in the1980s, Chantel McNulty was raised in Lake Dallas, Texas. She developed an early interest in poker, and she soon found herself participating in underground card games in Dallas. This allowed her to play with and observe some of the best players in the world, and Chantel was soon making money herself.

The late hours caused her to miss some of her college classes, and her father (a successful businessman) was not pleased. He threatened to cut her off if she continued to play poker, and that’s eventually what happened. Her mother, on the other hand, was more understanding.

Still underage, Chantel purchased a fake ID from the sister of a friend and started playing in Las Vegas poker tournaments. At the time, she was going by the name of Ashley, and her game of choice was 2/5 No-Limit Texas Hold’em.

A year later, she made the decision to learn limit poker, and she has credited Dustin “Neverwin” Woolf and Devin Miller with helping her do so. It was about this time that McNulty’s name started popping up on Internet gambling forums.

The Topic of Controversy

Dustin Woolf, one of the men credited with helping her start her career, publicly announced that he was leaving his fiancé for McNulty. The relationship didn’t last for long, and accusations started flying that Chantel was simply using Woolf to build her bankroll and get into tournaments.

Online Poker at PokerStarsMore rumors followed, and McNulty was also romantically linked to well-know poker player Brad Booth. It seemed like many in the industry were falling for the charms of this poker hottie, while others maintained that Chantel was bi-polar and prone to fits of rage. A short time later, McNulty resurfaced after having breast implants, leading to even more discussion and rumor-mongering.

The controversial Brandi Hawbaker even weighed in on McNulty at the 2+2 Forum. The late Hawbaker had this to say:

“I have never dated, nor would I ever date, any man who would be classless and tasteless enough to be with her or even stick it in her dirty hole.

The girl is a total skank and completely jealous and obsessed with me. Also, I believe she is somewhat of a lesbo. Have you seen her masculine tendencies? She walks like a man and talks like a trashy sailor. She once told quite a few people that she wanted to have either a threesome with me or go at it “mano e mano.” When they told me, I felt my dinner rising back into my mouth. I only wish those people were joking!

Don’t get me wrong, I think women are beautiful, and I love new experiences, but this girl skeeves me out. She even draws her eyebrows on and has gross alien-size, hard-as-a-rock bowling balls on her chest (which, surprisingly, she finds sexy and lets everyone feel up - including floor supervisors at the Rio.)”

McNulty added to her controversial reputation by playing around with Amanda Leatherman of PokerWire at the World Poker Challenge. She told the reporter, “I just got double-F implants yesterday. Wanna feel them?”
When Leatherman obliged, McNulty then playfully invited her upstairs to her hotel room. While this was obviously meant as a joke, many critics and fans of McNulty latched onto it as additional Internet fodder.

McNulty herself has admitted to being outspoken at the poker table, saying “When I’m playing poker, I’m very mouthy. I’m like Gavin Smith, Matusow and Tony G combined. I get along with other players really good, or they don’t like me at all.”

Looking to the Future

McNulty has stated that she views poker purely as a business proposition, and she has no desire to still be playing in 20 years. Her goal is to retire from the game within the next 15 years, finish college and then open up her own business.

McNulty’s biggest tournament win so far was during the 2007 Mandalay Bay Poker Championship. In the No-Limit Hold’em Championship event, she finished in 17th place and walked away with $17,490. Prior to that, her largest tournament win was $5,369.

2008 has been a quite year for Chantel, and rumors persist that the controversial poker hottie has went bust. Whatever the case, Chantel McNulty is still a topic of debate within the gambling community.
