Helen Chamberlain was born in April, 1967 in Street, Somerset, in the UK. She started out as a Blue Coat at the British holiday camp Pontins but later became a disc jockey. She even worked at the British park Chessington World of Adventures where she fed the sea lions and also got her first gig as an announcer. While at Chessington’s she was discovered by a producer for the television production company Nickelodean who hired her to work as a tv presenter. Her first job to garner attention was as a presenter on the morning sports show Soccer Am for Sky Sports. She also presented on two other morning shows for Channel 4; The Big Breakfast with Johnny Vaughan, and RI:SE.

Her coverage of poker events led her to get an invitation to play in the 2005 Poker Million tournament. There she proved that she was not just a pretty face taking up space at the felt. She won the celebrity qualifier and made it into the tournament where she expected to be immediately knocked out. To everyone’s surprise, including her, she proved to have a talent for the game. By playing on pure gut instinct, she advanced into the semi-finals where she won and then advanced into the finals. In the No Limit Hold’Em Grand Finale, she took second place and won $400,000. She ended up using her money to buy a Range Rover for her boyfriend. She also bought the racehorse Birkspiel. The seemingly impulse buy turned into a good investment. On the horse’s first race in 2006 after Helen bought him, he won a Group 3 race in Germany for 50,000 euros. A month later he took third place in another race. Since then Helen has added another horse to her stable, the flat racer Napoletano, blood-related to the Thoroughbred race horse Northern Dancer.
In 2007, the television/website Sky Poker was launched. The simultaneous online and broadcast show was one of the first to allow players to watch their online game being televised as they played. Helen became the studio presenter for the new station and did coverage for the games.

Poker is not the only interest in Helen’s busy life. She is a highly skilled darts player and once won a dart-cricket celebrity tournament. She also likes football (soccer, to us Yanks) and is a fan of Torquay United. She even has a tattoo of their crest on her buttocks. She currently lives in the North Western town Rochdale in the UK along with her fiancée Nathan King from the band Level 42. Between her television gigs, she still finds time to play poker online.
