The brunette stunner known as Kimberly Lansing is equally comfortable with poker cards or a microphone in her hand. In addition to hosting duties with the World Poker Tour, she’s also written for publications as diverse as the Associated Press and In Style Magazine.
Kimberly Lansing - People Magazine
Kimberly Lansing grew up in Laguna Hills and Rancho Mirage, California, and she eventually attended college at the University of Southern California. Her time at USC helped prepare her for a career in broadcasting, as Kimberly worked at the college news station, Annenberg TV News. Upon graduation, she received a BA in Broadcast Journalism.
A short time later, Kimberly’s career as a journalist would begin. She would soon land jobs writing for both the Associated Press and Us Weekly Magazine. Since 2004, Kimberly has also worked for People Magazine covering various red carpet events in Hollywood, as well as In Style Magazine and the German publication, Gala. Kimberly Lansing can also be seen on Hollywood.com Television, where she serves as a host and correspondent.
Kimberly Lansing - World Poker Tour
In 2006, Kimberly hosted the OnGame Network’s Poker Classic at the Casino de Barcelona in Spain. This led to a March 2007 job reporting for People Magazine at the WPT Celebrity Invitational tournament.
During this event, the WPT people were very impressed with her looks and personality, and they offered her a position as their online hostess. Her duties would include traveling the poker tournament circuit and reporting live from the casino floor with news and exclusive interviews.
Due to her popularity, Kimberly was also asked to help with hosting duties on the WPT television show. Alongside hostess and good friend Layla Kayleigh, Kimberly continued to entertain audiences with energetic play-by-play action. Her first hosting job came at the June 2nd, 2007 Mandalay Bay Poker Championship final table.
Kimberly is also a skilled poker player, having learned the game while playing with boyfriend Jim Davenport. She competed for nearly nine hours at her first multi-table event, the WPT Ladies Night tournament. Later, she played at the Commerce Casino WPT Invitational and finished 8th out of 445 participants.
When it comes to Kimberly Lansing the poker player, she prefers cash games to tournaments. She also cites Barry Greenstein and Kenna James as her favorite pros to conduct interviews with.
Kimberly Lansing and Jean-Robert Bellande
During the WPT LA Poker Classic, Kimberly and Jean-Robert Bellande engaged in a one-on-one contest to determine the best heads-up poker player. This was the result of some good natured trash-talking between the two. To make the bet more interesting, it was agreed that the winner would select an outfit for the loser to wear. Lansing revealed that she would make Bellande wear a Tinkerbell costume, but she was unfortunately defeated. Many assume (and hope) that her end of the bet will involve wearing a Wonder Woman outfit.
Kimberly Lansing Replaced by Amanda Leatherman
Kimberly has also been romantically linked to poker player Jim Davenport. During his games, she can often be found by his side, and she once had to choose between attending one of his tournaments or covering the Oscars for People Magazine. She chose to be with Davenport, saying, “He loves the game and he was the one who taught me how to play. I was there when he won the online qualifier. When he’s in online tournaments, I like to sit and watch him play. There is no way I was going to miss this one.”
Following the departure of WPT hostess Layla Kayleigh, it was announced that Amanda Leatherman would be replacing Kimberly Lansing as the World Poker Tour’s online hostess. This has created speculation that Lansing might be next in line for the WPT television job, and even the departing Kayleigh has voiced support for her friend.
