Poker player Lily Elviro has been playing professionally since 2004. She has competed in the World Series of Poker, and her career earnings are over $35,000. She is often referred to as “Mrs. Grinder” due to her marriage to poker superstar Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi.
A Love for the Game
Born Aidiliy Elviro on August 12th, 1977, the poker hottie now known simply as Lily Elviro was destined to be a poker player. In fact, her mother had to be rushed from a Florida casino in order to give birth to her.
Lily’s family loved to gamble, and they would often play Cuban Poker together and take trips to Indian casinos in Southern Florida. When she was old enough, Lily dropped out of high school and started dealing cards at various Florida casinos (including the Seminole Casino in Hollywood, Florida).
Lily Elviro - Meeting the Grinder
During her time at the tables, Lily would observe the poker players and try to pick up tricks and techniques. She was particularly impressed with a player named Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, and the young man was also more than a little drawn to the enchanting Elviro. As it turned out, Mizrachi was actually a talented up-and-coming player who had given up dreams up being a doctor to pursue a career as a poker pro.
The two started dating one another, and Mizrachi helped Lily to develop her poker game. She eventually became pregnant with his child in 2004, and Mizrachi went on the poker circuit. Being apart was tough for the young couple, but after doing well in the World Poker Tour and L.A. Poker Classic, Mizrachi was able to bring her along by purchasing a tour bus.
A Bright Future
With her husband encouraging her to play, Lily entered the 2005 WPT World Poker Challenge in Reno and finished in 27th place. This gave her the confidence to continue, and soon she was making a name for herself in the world of poker. She finished 12th in the 2005 Mirage Poker Showdown’s No-limit Hold’em satellite $1,500 buy-in and 5th in the $1,500 No-limit WSOP circuit event in Lake Tahoe.
As her reputation as a player continued to grow, Elviro was invited by the WPT to compete in their 2005 Ladies Night Out III tournament. Playing against wall-to-wall poker hotties, and pregnant with her second child, Elviro surprised the field by advancing all the way to a head-to-head showdown with Jennifer Tilly. While she finished in second place, this is still the accomplishment that many remember her for.

Taking a Break
After giving birth, Elviro decided to step back from poker a bit and concentrate on caring for her children (one son, Paul William, and one daughter, Julie Malka). She and Mizrachi were married in the spring of 2006, and she continues to support him at poker tournaments around the country.
The family has homes in Las Vegas and Hollywood, Florida, and Lily Elviro keeps her skills sharp by competing in online poker tournaments. As her children grow older, many dread the day when “Mrs. Grinder” makes a full-time return to the tables.
