Sabina Gadecki was the hostess of the World Poker Tour 5th season on the Travel Channel. While the Sabina Gadecki poker biography isn't a large one, Sabina has had a full rich life for a 24-year old. She has been everything from a bartender to an international beauty contestant to a charity worker to a Fordham scholar. Meanwhile, Sabina Gadecki is dating one of the few New York Knicks whom Knicks fan don't hate.
Sabina Gadecki Poker Information
There is no sign that Sabina Gadecki plays poker seriously. Sabina was hired to host season 5 of the World Poker Tour, where the blonde brought energy and enthusiasm to her interviews. The Sabina Gadecki poker connection might have ended when she left the WPT in 2006, though we'll update if there is any more Sabina Gadecki poker news.
Before Poker - Sabina Gadecki
Sabina Gadecki was born in Chicopee, Massachusetts in 1983 to two Polish immigrants. Until she entered kindergarten, Sabina Gadecki spoke Polish as her only language. She quickly caught up to speed, and early on Sabina decided she wanted to be an entertainer of some sort. Throughout school, Sabina Gadecki took dance lessons. Sabina also was a cheerleader in her local community.
Meanwhile, Sabina Gadecki was entering beauty pageants, which prepared her for a future modeling career. In 2002 at the age of 19, Sabina Gadecki won the Miss Polonia World contest. Miss Polonia is an international competition for woman 16 to 25 of Polish descent.
During her time as Miss Polonia and beyond, Sabina Gadecki volunteered at organizations such as the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, the Piasecka Johnson Foundation for Autism and the AIDS foundation of Western Massachusetts. Sabina also delivered gifts to children in hospitals battling cancer. Taking advantage of the Sabina Gadecki poker celebrity to draw attention to a good cause, Sabina hosted the 1st Annual Hamptons Poker Challenge. The proceeds went to needy children.
Sabina Gadecki has always been a self-starter. She began working in a pharmacy at age 15, while working a second job as a waitress. By 18, Sabina was a cocktail waitress; she eventually worked her way into the bartender's job. This helped Sabina Gadecki work her way through Holyoke Community College, where she gained her associate's degree.
From Holyoke, Sabina Gadecki traveled to New York City and Fordham University (in 2003). Currently, Sabina Gadecki is close to graduating from Fordham with an international business and communications degree.
Meanwhile, Sabina has been taking acting and dancing classes. She learned acting at the William Esper Studios, while she perfected her dance skills at Tap, Acting, Dance and Hip Hop dance company -- better known by the acronym TADAH.
World Poker Tour Broadcasts
The World Poker Tour started in 2002 and was second only to the World Series of Poker broadcasts on ESPN in helping poker achieve mainstream television appeal. In many ways, the WPT is a better public relations vehicle than the WSOP, because viewers have more episodes, more tournaments and more coverage in order to meet more players. The World Poker Tour follows the professional poker circuit and covers most of the major poker professionals in the Western Hemisphere.
The show has been hosted by Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten all six seasons to date. The hostess situation is a great deal more fluid, so it was no surprise to see Sabina Gadecki leave the show after only one year. Here is the list of presenters for the entire run of the World Poker Tour.
World Poker Tour Hostesses
Shanna Hiatt - Seasons 1-3
Courtney Friel - Season 4
Sabina Gadecki - Season 5
Layla Kayleigh - Season 6
It has not yet been announced who would host Season 7 of the WPT. Kimberly Lansing also helped with duties in season six, while Amanda Leatherman came on board in July 2008 to post live updates to the World Poker Tour website.
After Poker Sabina Gadecki
Sabina Gadecki signed a three-year contract with the Ford Modeling Agency in late 2007, after she left the World Poker Tour. Throughout her modeling career, Sabina Gadecki has appeared in Redbook, Seventeen and Maxim Magazine (the Axe Ad, not a spread in Maxim). The Sabina Gadecki poker related magazine appearances have included Bluff Magazine, Card Player, Poker Pro (twice), WPT Poker (four times) and City Atlantic.
Sabina Gadecki and David Lee
The 24-year old Sabina Gadecki has dated David Lee of the New York Knicks for three years now. This has made Ms. Gadecki a noted figure in New York City, which loves its professional athletes (and their personal lives) as much or more than any American city. David Lee was described as a "prodigious bachelor" by one New York newspaper before he met Sabina Gadecki.
There were rumors that David Lee would be traded during the 2008 NBA Draft, due to the fact the Knicks' new coach (Mike Dantoni) wanted to rebuild the team and David Lee was one of the few players with trade value. This didn't happen, so David Lee looks like he'll be with the New York Knicks in the near future.
